These cysts can be the consequence of delayed eruption of teeth, of infections or benign or sometimes even malignant tumors. By harvesting biopsies, benign and malignant tumors have to be ruled out. In the next step depending on the size of the cyst, a decompression (cystostomy) will be performed. This approach allows for spontaneous bony regeneration of the cystic lesion and reduces the risk of damaging adjacent structures like teeth or nerves to a minimum.
