Clinical Focus
- Dialysis access: Founding member of interdisciplinary study group for dialysis access and innovations and access related problems. Organizer of the Austrian Symposium of Central Venous Catheters and Dialysis Access with Hands-on Training (www.dialysezugang.at). 
- Interventional nephrology: >1.000 permanent catheters, >2.000 hemofiltration catheters, >500 kidney biopsies, >800 transplant kidney biopsies, > 50 peritoneal dialysis catheters.
- Hypertension: Especially resistant or refractory hypertension and new innovative therapy options.
- Renal transplantation: At the Medical University of Vienna approximately 160 renal transplantations are performed per year resulting in 4,000 patients in the follow-up programme.
- Systemic diseases: Diagnosis and therapy of glomerulonephritis as part of autoimmune diseases. Founding member of interdisciplinary study group for systemic disease and generation of a registry at the Medical University of Vienna.
- Chronic Kidney Disease: Organisation and implementation of regular interdisciplinary information information/patient education sessions for patients in collaboration with dialysis nurses, social workers and dieticians.
- Quality Management Commissioner: for the acute dialysis and intensive care unit since March 2012 including regular internal and external audits.

-    The Johns Hopkins University, Dept. of Medicine, Div. of Nephrology, Baltimore, USA: Post-doctoral fellowship, 12/1997-04/2000 
-    Prince Court Medical Center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, October 2006-February 2007: Complete constructional, equipment, staff and medical planning and development of the nephrology department (chronic dialysis, peritoneal dialysis, acute dialysis, nephrology ward and nephrology outpatient) 
-    Ain Hospital in United Arab Emirates: Conceptualization of the Department of Medicine, 13 September 2007-25 September 2007 
-    Consulting and Concept development for the National Research Center for Maternal and Child Health (NRCMC), Astana, Kasachstan, 13-25 September 2007 
-    Selected as the assistant medical director for Al Ain Hospital in United Arab Emirates 2010/2011: position declined.
-    Establishment of an exchange programme between the Divisions of Nephrology of the Johns Hopkins University and Medical University of Vienna in collaboration with Associate Prof. Derek Fine from the Johns Hopkins University.
